We had a huge wall, with high ceilings. Our flat screen TV looked lost in the room. I spent weeks, searching online, after going to local and not so local furniture stores, without finding what I needed. I kept coming back to this one unit.

The only difficulty my husband and I had (we are both retired but in good shape) was getting the 2 large crates into the house. But once assembled, we were both very pleased. It adds just the touch we were looking for.

I do wish the side shelving slots were a bit larger, and not quite so dark, or at least offered a means to light them. It offers a challenge to find the right items to display. But I'm always up for a challenge.

Really nice looking unit. I'd been shopping around, and this is a really nice value for the money. Would have liked a bit more room for components (height wise), but the drawers hold A LOT of DVDs. Only real complaint: there are holes cut in the back of the hutch to run cords through, but there are no "fillers" to plug these holes if you're not using them. I had three rather large holes on the back on each side that were very obvious, since my wall is painted a light beige. I ended up taping a heavy black construction paper to the back of the unit to cover the holes and minimize their appearance.

This is a great piece![...]. In one box the hutch comes completely assembled and in the other box is the base completely assembled. My only complaint is it's not the color it advertises (Merlot). It's actually much darker than the picture shows on this website, it's almost black (but it still looks nice).

First let me say, I am normally am the type who has to go to an actual store and check something like this out in person before I buy. So I was a bit nervous buying something this expensive sight unseen. It, however, as surpassed our expectations and then some. The build quality is unbelievable for the price range. A lot of thought went into the designs. The only thing I wish I had during my purchase was MORE DETAILS, so I'm going to list every possible measurement you could need.

Overall width: 72 1/4 inches (YES the website is wrong), Overall height: 79 inches, overall depth at base: 20 inches, overall depth of top hutch: 11 inches.

TV area detentions: Width 52 inches, Height 33.5 inches, Depth 8 inches. Note; my 46inch TV fit very nicely. I used the stand my TV came with and with the stand pushed all the way back in the cabinet the face of the TV is almost perfectly aligned with the front of the hutch. Almost like it was made for my TV. Of course the TV stand itself comes out further from the hutch, but you have another 8.5 inches to work with from the front of the hutch in addition to the 8 inches depth of the hutch.

Hutch Cubbyholes: Top left: 16(w)x11.5(h)x10(d). Top Middle: 35(w)x11.5(h)x10(d). Top right: same as top left. There are three cubbyholes on either side of the TV. The following measurements apply to both sides. The width is 8.5 inches, the depth is 9 1/4 inches. The height as shipped is 8.5 inches for the top, 13 1.4 inches for the middle, and 10.5 inches for the bottom. Both shelves are adjustable, the top one can move down either 2.5 inches or 5 inches, the bottom shelf can move up or down 2.5 inches.

Base Drawers: there are three drawers on either side. The top drawer on each side is exactly the right height for CDs. The middle and bottom drawer on each side are slightly deeper – exactly the right depth for DVDs. All drawers have felt on the inside of the bottom of the drawer. All drawers are on the types of slides that are metal with the plastic rollers. It would have been nice if they were on ball-bearing slides, but the drawers feel sturdy and at this price this is understandable. The slides could easily be replaced if you prefer ball bearing ones. The inside measurements of the drawers on both sides are as follows: Top drawer: 12(w) 4 ½ (h) 13.5(d), middle and bottom drawers: same as the other drawers, but 5.5 inches in height.
AV Equipment area: The top open area (above the glass doors) measurements are: 36.5 wide, 18 ¼ inches deep, and 6 inches tall (7.5 inches tall behind the top molding). The area behind the glass doors is 18 inches wide on each side and 16 ¼ inches deep. The overall height is 15.5 inches with an adjustable shelf on each side. The shelf has three positions. The shelf is not quite as deep as the space (at 15 ¼ inches – probably to help with air flow, so count on putting any really deep AV items on the bottom.

Other notes: The AV equipment area (behind the glass doors) has a sliding panel to make hooking everything up easier – this panel has slots to allow for airflow and cables. The panel can be completely removed (which is what I did) if you want better airflow. That area is deep enough so you really can't tell the panel has been removed if you choose to do so. There are two adjustable feet on the bottom of the front of the unit which make leveling the unit a breeze. There are pre-drilled holes in the following areas for cables: the open area above the glass doors, the TV area (x2 holes), The top left and right cubbyholes (x2 holes), and the top middle cubbyhole. There are holes in the back of the base unit behind the drawers that act as handles for easy moving (this unit is HEAVY!). There are three lights, one over each of the top cubbyholes, all on one circuit, that have a touch-dimmer in the left hand side of the left cubbyhole. There are three brightness levels. The cord for the lights is more than enough in length to reach an outlet anywhere behind the unit. Bulbs are included and already installed. As the other reviews said I would be nervous about mounting the TV to the back of the hutch as is. But it would be easy to add some reinforcements behind the panel. The whole unit is constructed very well, not like the cheap particleboard you see everywhere now. Very solid feeling with lots of support. There are two brackets included already mounted to the base that swivel up and screw to the hutch to hold it in place. The unit is more of a very dark mocha color then red (which was exactly what I wanted!) The unit arrives in two huge boxes strapped to a wooden pallet. They came packaged VERY well. This piece is a great buy and I would totally recommend it to anyone!
