The Right TV Stand for the Room
Corner TV stands maximize space, and swivel TV stands allow for optimal viewing from different angles, in spite of glare. Low profile TV cabinets are not as invasive as tall TV cabinets, armoires, and entertainment centers. Evaluate your storage needs to determine your size requirements; are shelves, drawers, and cabinet space for components a requirement?
TV stands and TV cabinets should place screens at proper viewing levels. The center of the screen should be eye level to those seated in order to avoid eye and neck strain. Two important aspects to determining the measurements of a TV stand/cabinet are the dimensions of the TV stand and room dimensions. A TV stand or cabinet must appear balanced in a location that coordinates with outlets and distance requirements.
High definition TVs are more detailed than analog TVs, allowing viewers to sit closer to enjoy high definition. If rows and columns of pixels appear as tiny dots, more distance is required. Below are recommended viewing distances for high-definition and analog screen sizes; distance your favorite chair and select your TV stand accordingly.

The Right TV Stand for the TV
TVs are deceivingly heavy, and TV stands are not universal. The manufacturer's manual will specify size and weight; TV stand manufacturers should specify limitations. No part of the TV should extend beyond the TV stand's edges. If the TV and TV stand are size and weight compatible, check that all adjoining pieces are tightly secured and test the steadiness of the TV stand. Remember that weight requirements include the total weight that the TV stand can support, including the weight of the TV, speakers, stereo, DVD players, and anything else you might store on the unit.
